Join us at Saturn Cafe for business networking and lunch.  Saturn Café offers traditional American diner comfort food with a healthy twist, with all the salty, sweet yumminess people love, but prepared in a health-conscious manner.

Conveniently located near the downtown Berkeley BART station, the Cafe offers a large private room, the "Space Lounge" where we will gather for our lunch.  Saturn's owners are committed to progressive business practices which value diversity and are environmentally sustainable, socially responsible, and community-oriented.

Lunch Speaker: Jeff Lipton, President & CEO of Coyle Industries, Inc.  Jeff has worked with two partners over the last three years to develop a portable solar generator, designed to be used in remote locations where power is needed but not readily available: in rural residential or entertainment settings, agricultural settings, for remote construction, water desalination and purification projects. etc.  The generator rests on rubber wheels, weighs about 900 lbs., is the size of a small trailer that you might hitch to the back of your family car, can easily be pushed around a property by one person, is absolutely silent, and has zero GHG emissions.

At this point, the product has been developed, prototypes have been manufactured, and Jeff is devoting his time to marketing the product.  He is in contact with some private sector clients, but is most enthusiastic about developing contracts with one or more governmental agencies.  Jeff's talk will touch upon what it's like to have developed a cutting edge tech product and then sell it to consumers who, before they write a check, are eager to know that their investment makes sense because the marketplace for the product will rapidly grow.  As Jeff puts it: "I am engaged in a 'chicken and egg exercise.'  I have to have manufactured the product in order to show it and, before closing a sale, have to convince potential clients that they will soon be joined by many other purchasers, and that together we can grow the marketplace."  Jeff received an MBA from UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business.

To get the pre-registration rate, sign up by Thursday, December 2nd at 6pm. Open to non-members. Please help in our membership campaign by inviting friends and businesses so that the SBA can grow and be a more viable force in the region. Thank you!
